Learning (Cursive) Handwriting

Why should students learn to write in cursive in the age of tablets and smart phones? While electronic devices have added an element of convenience to the writing process, evidence is mounting that putting pen to paper has benefits that typing cannot replace. Researchers have found ties between writing by hand and everything from language skills to memory to critical thinking.

At Strategic Learning Clinic, we help students learn cursive because of the numerous mental, physical, and practical benefits it confers. Cursive handwriting stimulates the brain and is linked to improved neural connections, increased writing speed, improved fine motor skills, improved legibility, increased retention, and more.
